We do not sell Sports equipment, I-pods, or CDs. We believe in doing one thing and doing that one thing right. Our customers have learned that they can get a great deal and great service from us because we know our products and believe that service stars before the sale and does not end at the sale. We have a very loyal customer base and get a lot of repeat business. We offer the entire Fisher line of pens, refills, and accessories at 15% off of the MSRP on every Fisher item, nothing held back. That is the lowest allowable discount.
We have addressed all of our own complaints as consumers in building this business; False and misleading information, hidden costs, high shipping, drop shippers, slow shipping, etc. and with the help of Internet Marketing Group have created a site that is easy to search, with honest prices, and good information. Some of our competitors make all kinds of claims... Well, we have searched these sites and can make this claim, NOBODY DOES IT BETTER….
Fisher Space Pens is yet another great breakthrough from space research; no other pen has so much to offer. This pen was designed in 1965 by Paul C. Fisher for NASA, with no cost to NASA or our government. Ordinary pens rely on gravity to write and if you hold them upside down they quit and there was a need for a pen that would work in the zero gravity vacuum of space and in the most extreme conditions. Paul Fisher developed such a pen. In order for the ink cartridge to write at any angle, the cartridge was charged with 35 PSI of nitrogen. A small ball type float was used to separate the gas charge from the ink and it is hermetically sealed to hold the charge. For that type of pressure a precision fit, stainless steel, machined socket with a tungsten carbide ball, and a specially formulated thixotropic ink was used keep the pen sealed and leak free.
During the first NASA missions the astronauts used pencils. Project Gemini, for example, NASA ordered mechanical pencils in 1965 from Tycam Engineering Manufacturing, Inc., in Houston. The fixed price contract purchased 34 units at a total cost of $4,382.50, or $128.89 per unit. That created something of a controversy at the time, as many people believed it was a frivolous expense. NASA backtracked immediately and equipped the astronauts with less costly items.
Fisher offered the pens to NASA in 1965, but because of the earlier controversy, the agency was hesitant in its approach. In 1967, after rigorous tests, NASA managers agreed to equip the Apollo astronauts with these pens. Media reports indicate that approximately 400 pens were purchased from Fisher at $6 per unit for Project Apollo. The Soviet Union also purchased 100 of the Fisher pens, and 1,000 ink cartridges, in February 1969, for use on its Soyuz space flights. Previously, its cosmonauts had been using grease pencils to write in orbit. Fisher Space Pens have been used on EVERY Space Shuttle mission, both USA and Russian.
Fisher Pens may be imitated but they can never be duplicated. Because it is hermetically sealed it will not dry out like other pens and has a shelf life of over a hundred years. It does not rely on gravity; it writes up side down, in the vacuum of space, on wet paper, underwater, in the freezing cold of -30° F, and the boiling heat of 250° F. Fisher ink cartridges stay leak free and writing longer, cleaner, and more consistently than any other ink cartridges. Fishers are not only utilized by Astronauts but the Thunderbirds, the Blue Angels, the Navy Seals, and the Canadian Snowbirds also use the Fisher pens. Fishers are a favorite among Firefighters, Paramedics, and Police Officers. We have even sold them to tow truck operators is Alaska that needed a pen to write in sub zero conditions. If you count on a pen to work, you need a pen with a Fisher ink cartridge. The Fisher Bullet Pen was exhibited at the New York Museum of Modern Art. It has been featured on the Tonight Show, Good Morning America, John Ratzenberger's Made in America, and an episode of Seinfeld. Still proudly made here in the USA and We can tell you first hand Fisher Space Pen Company is made up of great people. Fisher has a wide variety of pens to fit almost anyone's wants and needs in a variety of price ranges.
